Typical Forest Adventure

Upon arrival at Base Camp, participants are welcomed by the team at the reception area where they register, sign the “risk acknowledgment and disclaimer” and pay.  They are then directed to the briefing area for those going on the Grand Course.
briefAt the briefing area, an instructor equips them with their harnesses and helmets and takes the group through a 20 minute safety briefing which will comprised of:

  • How to use the harness, karabiners and trolley;
  • How to recognise the different colour coded cables enabling them to secure themselves easily and correctly while on the course;
  • The safety protocol (e.g. maximum 3 people per platform, 1 person on each bridge at anyone time etc…)

All participants then complete a 3 stage “Initiation” course where instructors give “hands-on” supervision and ensures all participants have acquired the skills to complete the Grand Course.

Once everyone is ready to go, the instructor directs the group to Site 1 where he/she provides guidance through the first few activities. Thereafter, participants move throughout the course unaccompanied.

An on-the-ground presence of instructors throughout the course provides advice and support to the participants as and when needed, as well as ensuring that safety measures are being followed at all times by all participants. Any participant failing to adhere to our safety regulations will be asked to leave the course.

At the start of each activity, a sign board describes the activity and provides some tips and techniques to assist participants to navigate that stage of the course.

After completing the course, instructors will welcome all participants home and congratulate them on successful completion of the course. Sharing stories and experiences will be encouraged whilst safety equipment is being collected.

The terrace at “Base Camp”  provides a venue for participants to take a break, enjoy the view and to share more stories!
